Marie Amm Pea and the World So Pink (with video)
My children and I have been working on a game for the last year called “Marie Amm Pea and the World So Pink”. My youngest loves Marie from the Aristocats, and it’s based on a Marie teddy that we got from a charity shop that said “Marie M P” on it!
I can never release this game as it contains copyrighted assets, but the kids would love to show it in school. So, I bought a cheap Elegoo TFT LCD screen that bolts onto the Raspberry Pi. It’s a tiny display and it took some configuring, but it all works!
It’s running latest Raspberry Pi OS, and automatically logs into a desktop session, then autostarts Chromium. There’s a tiny Python webserver that just serves the static files. Nothing else going on.
Visionaire Studio is an adventure game creation tool used for the excellent Lucy Dreaming - I emailed the creators to tell them how much I loved their game and as someone who’d made adventure games in the 2000’s, we had a little chat about engines, which is how I discovered Visionaire. Fantastic product - my children and I have built a simple game that has around a dozen rooms with artifacts and characters in them, and they love it! Now they can take it anywhere, Internet or not.
