As Our Hearts Break - 1 Kings 8

I love this passage from 1 Kings 8:

“Now it came into the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel. “But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Because you had it in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it emanated from your heart. ‘Nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will become born to you, he will build the house for My name.’

This message lifts me up: “you did well that it emanated from your heart”. God who weighs the heart sees all the good that we wished to do and we were unable, perhaps due to sickness, circumstance or persecution.

What an encouragement; God’s purposes will be done, and our tears of frustration are not unseen by our Father.
